Gloucestershire writer hits right note with top book

Added: (Tue May 28 2019)

Pressbox (Press Release) - A musician from Gloucestershire has turned up the tempo with his new career as a novelist.
A R Harris is best known for playing with his band around the Forest of Dean area where he lives.
But the 44-year-old is quickly making a name for himself within literary circles with the publication of three stunning novels in the space of six months.
Despite also having a part-time job as a school driver, Mr Harris can type a chapter a day.
He said: “As long as I can shut off for a few hours I’m fine.
“I average 7000-to-8500 words per day when I find time.
“My jobs allow me plenty of time for writing both music and novels and I am very grateful for that.
“I have my own room where I tend to be left alone.
“I become slightly more antisocial when I’m writing but the people around me are thankfully very forgiving and understanding of this.”
Following on from his top ten debut, In Angels Field, he has just published Club 217 and H, which has already reached the top three in Amazon’s fiction charts.
Having been writing up drafts for novels over the past two decades, it is likely A R will be publishing several more books in the coming year.
A R shares his Forest of Dean home with his partner, their two teenage daughters and his stepson.
He added: “I’ve written since about the age of 13 or 14, mainly short stories and rough ideas, but I put most of my ideas on hold whilst raising my family.
“My family are now a big inspiration and I’m grateful that they allow me to re-write and finish my books.
“Now that my daughters are growing up I wanted to finish my novels and make sure they had something to remember me by.
“I’m gradually working my way through the back catalogue of works that have been gathering dust for the last 20 or so years.”
Away from writing A R is a huge rock music fan, having met many of his favourite bands, such as Iron Maiden and Slayer.
He, as well as his partner, have also become good friends with The Hollywood Undead, who invited A R to Leeds and Reading festivals last year.
