Kent sisters enjoy success with shamrock book

Added: (Fri May 17 2019)

Pressbox (Press Release) - A Emerald Isle childhood dream of counting with shamrocks has been turned into a bookish reality by two Irish sisters.
Julia and Anna Perkens both now live in Kent and have grown up families of their own.
Neither have forgotten their own upbringing in Ireland and the colourful characters that helped develop their own learning.
And they have now turned their dream into a captivating series of books for toddlers.
Counting with the Sham-Rocks has already reached the top three in Amazon’s children’s chart, and it has earned glowing reviews.
Julia, who lives in the London borough of Bromley, said: “When our now adult children left home we rediscovered our almost forgotten dream of creating the Sham-Rock characters.
“We started with our original idea of early learning books featuring the Sham-Rock characters to help teach children to count, recognise colours and the seasons.
“Counting with the Sham-Rocks also embraces and celebrates our own Celtic heritage.”
Julia and Anna plan Counting with the Sham-Rocks to be the first of a series of entertaining and highly-educative books.
Anna, who lives in Kent, added: “We grew up in a large family in Ireland and enjoyed the typical experiences of minor sibling rivalries which is an intrinsic part of all family relationships.
“We have never forgotten our Sham-Rock characters.
“Our plans are to create further Sham-Rock characters for future books with special skills and powers that can equal The Fairies and give them run for their money.”
The simple first book teaches children to count from one-to-ten with the help of the Sham-Rocks.
There are even colouring-in pages to allow youngsters to create their own Sham-Rocks.
The second and third books will help children recognise colours and learn the seasons.
Since the release of Counting with the Sham-Rocks it has received encouraging feedback from parents and teachers.
Charity Howard stated: “If you want to help teach your little ones to count then this is a helpful tool.
“It is an enjoyable book - great for the little ones it is geared toward.”
