Titans Unbound
Croatian artist Nikola Vudrag's latest masterpiece, "Titans Unbound," takes center stage in the Palazzo Mora garden during the Venice Biennale 2024 from April 20 to November 27, 2024. Hosted by the European Cultural Centre, Venice and curated by Metamorphosis Art Projects, London, this captivating exhibition explores the silent dialogue between titans Prometheus and Atlas through monumental, 3.5 meter corten steel sculptures, symbolizing stretch and pressure in our contemporary society.
"The audiences standing in the Mora garden might be contemplating, 'Which one am I? Stretched or pressured?' There isn’t a human on Earth who hasn’t experienced one of these sensations at some point in their lives, making it everyone’s story and thus, a universal experience."
- Nikola Vudrag
About the exhibition
"Titans Unbound" presents a powerful exploration of myth and human struggle through two monumental
sculptures. Prometheus depicts the rebel-titan who stole fire from the Gods, symbolising the timeless human quest for freedom amidst physical subjugation, while Atlas burdened with carrying the 'world' on his shoulders, symbolises the pressure and expectations individuals face to uphold ideals amidst ever-changing social trends. Serving as a reflection of contemporary challenges and aspirations, the exhibition explores themes of freedom, knowledge, and enlightenment. Through the use of corten steel
as a unifying motif, Vudrag transforms industrial strength into a contemporary language that speaks to the pursuit of balance and stability amidst uncertainty.
Inspiration and vision
"Titans Unbound" aims to inspire audiences to embrace change and become agents of transformation in
their own lives and communities, inviting viewers to embark on a mythical odyssey guided by the
timeless wisdom of the titans.
