What to do if your Delta flight is canceled?
First, follow the steps that Delta provides in its communication. If you receive a cancellation notification via text, email or an alert in your Delta app, there's probably a link offering you flight options.
From there, you can re-book yourself on an alternative flight or sometimes by selecting a departure or arrival airport other than your origin.
For advanced booking and group travel
If you have paid to upgrade your seat (perhaps with a regional or global upgrade certificate that you have selected as a preferred benefit for being a Top Medallion member) or are traveling with a group or unaccompanied minor , then things get more complicated. Sometimes, these upgrades may not transfer to your new flight or may have limited availability. This will require you to call Delta Reservations (if you have Medallion elite status, they have a dedicated number to call for faster service) or contact Delta through the messaging feature within the app.
As long as the ticket is issued by a joint venture partner, SkyTeam or Delta's codeshare partner, Delta will be able to assist you. If the Delta flight was canceled and the ticket was offered by another carrier with which Delta has an agreement they may also be able to help.
