Oxford writer takes credit for well-received new book

Added: (Sat Feb 11 2023)

Pressbox (Press Release) - A former credit card business manager from Oxford has taken another swipe at the book charts with his second thriller.
Ross Lowen burst onto the book scene with his stunning five-star-rated debut, Photographic Memory, back in 2021.
The 66-year-old has now returned with his investigative journalists, Peter Wilson and Mathew Phillips-Lehman, as they stumble across a mystery surrounding the owners of a luxury hotel.
Brotherly Love has yet again attracted positive ratings and reviews from captivated readers.
Ross said: “Whilst visiting Scotland, retired journalists Peter Wilson and Mathew Phillips-Lehman stumble upon a crude attempt at blackmail.
“It leads to them discovering the dark secrets haunting a wealthy couple who own a luxury hotel on the banks of Loch Morar in the Highlands.
“Angus Mackenzie, the son of a Scottish landowner and his wife Kirsty, a former fashion model are both attempting to escape their past.”
Brotherly Love is an explosive thriller which takes the protagonists from Scotland to London and then Colombia.
Drug smugglers, television stars and the former wife of a newspaper owner all become embroiled in Wilson and Phillips-Lehman’s investigations.
Having worked for 30 years in the plastic card industry, part of Ross’s duties were proof-reading industry reports.
Approaching retirement, Ross graduated from a creative writing course before taking up his new career as a novelist.
And the grandfather admits that some vital advice during the course has set the parameters for his work.
Ross, who was inspired by writers such as Arthur Conan Doyle, Ruth Rendell, Jean-Paul Sartre and Graham Greene, added: “Most of my ideas - the plot, characters and sometimes even dialogue come to me in the middle of the night.
“I have no idea why!
“But some of the best advice I was given when I undertook the creative writing course was to write, as far as possible, about things that you know.
“For Brotherly Love, I am familiar with London and Scotland, and have plans to visit Cartagena in Colombia.”
As well as writing, Ross has taken on a part-time position working in a local art gallery.
He is currently working on a third thriller featuring Peter Wilson and Mathew Phillips-Lehman.
