Pressbox (Press Release) - A housing admin worker from Hampshire is set for a permanent home in the book charts after the success of her stunning debut novel.
Hannah Lloyd, who writes under the name H R Lloyd, has just released the five-star-rated Take Me Home to critical acclaim.
Reviewers have described her cross-Atlantic romance as ‘hard to put down’, ‘wonderfully written’ and ‘steamy in all the right places’.
Critic Tanya D stated: “If you are looking for a book to draw you in and make you invest in the characters, you found it.”
Hannah, who is a Creative Writing graduate, admits publishing her first novel has been a long time in the making.
She said: “I have been working on Take Me Home in one form or another for so long that I can’t remember if there was a particular inspiration for starting.
“Mostly stories just come to me on the cusp of sleep.
“I used to love writing stories as a child and always enjoyed creative writing projects in school.
“I studied Creative Writing at university and I wrote for fun after my formal education – but this is my first published novel, and I aim to keep publishing romantic novels.”
Take Me Home follows the fortunes of protagonist Hayleigh who married into New York royalty following a whirlwind romance.
While many look on with envy, the perfect husband, the stylish penthouse and the Manhattan social status isn’t the lifestyle many imagine.
Hannah’s well-paced and unpredictable novel takes Hayleigh back to her rural English roots in pursuit of happiness and answers.
Inspired by writers such as Sylvia Day, Melanie Moreland and Tessa Bailey, the 32-year-old has produced a compelling debut that keeps readers gripped until the final few pages.
Hannah explains: “Hayleigh is a little fish in a big pond, feeling out of place and overwhelmed by her life in New York.
“She has gone from being life and soul of the party when she was living at home in England to feeling inadequate and insecure by the beautiful and accomplished people around her in Manhattan.
“When Hayleigh discovers issues in her marriage, she escapes back home to the English countryside to rediscover the girl she was before she left.
“Reconnecting with old friends and her family makes her old life a tempting option to return to, but the pull of her husband and his American heart-throb charm could be too hard to resist.
“Hayleigh has choices to make and change is inevitable but will her future be in England or New York?”
Although Take Me Home is a standalone story, Hannah is already working on a second novel.
