Indian Govt to organise the First Global Tourism G20 Summit

Pressbox (Press Release) - Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is the industry partner for the summit to be held on April 10-12, in New Delhi.

The Centre will organise the country’s First Global Tourism Summit in April as part of India’s G-20 presidency and all the member countries will participate.

The G20 summit will mainly showcase the major tourist destinations of the country with various government entities as the stakeholders.

For showcasing Incredible India as a major travel destination, G20 will be the Union Tourism ministry’s focus area in 2023.

Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy took part in the 10th International Tourism Mart (ITM) for the Northeast that put a spotlight on the region’s tourism potential and was held in Aizawl from November 17-19 to facilitate interaction among government agencies, business fraternity, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders. Private companies in the hospitality sector are “showing an appetite to invest in the Northeast,” Union Tourism Secretary Arvind Singh in Aizawl. The event also focused on “priorities of G20 for tourism track”. This was Mizoram’s first time hosting the ITM.

“We have to use this occasion (G20 meetings) to showcase our cultural and traditional heritage to the foreign guests,” Union Tourism Secretary Arvind Singh had said. During a national conference of state tourism ministers in Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamshala from September 18-20, Arvind Singh said that India has planned to position itself as a “major tourism destination” during its G20 presidency.

As of now, the following dates for the meeting are confirmed.

The First meeting will be held in the Rann of Kutch, Gujarat from the 7th of February to the 9th of February.
The Second meeting will be held in Siliguri, West Bengal from the 3rd of April to the 5th of April.
The Third meeting will be held in Srinagar, Jammu Kashmir from the 22nd of May to the 24th of May.
The Fourth meeting will be held in Goa from the 19th of June to the 22nd of June.
