Manchester retired teacher’s new book earns top marks

Added: (Tue Jan 17 2023)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Retired Manchester teacher Pamela Kiami may no longer spend her days in the classroom, but she’s continuing to inspire and educate with her new career as a novelist.
And this time, it is the adults who will come under her spell with a gripping new page-turner.
For over 30 years children from around Manchester as well as in Sweden and the USA were guided by the English, History and Drama graduate in the classroom.
Inspired by writer such as C S Lewis and JRR Tolkien, she picked up the pen herself on approaching retirement.
Her 2019 time-travelling debut, The Stone in Time, was described by critics as ‘the best book I’ve read in years’, ‘outstanding’ and ‘a great read’.
Aimed at a teenage audience, Pamela’s debut brilliantly brought to life the Victorian streets of her home town.
Four years on, she has now returned with a gripping psychological thriller to keep adult readers enthralled.
And again, her story unfolds around the familiar landmarks of Manchester.
Perfectly paced and deliciously unpredictable, A Walk in the Dark has already racked up a string of five-star reviews.
Critics describe Pamela’s latest page-turner as ‘a cosy mystery’, ‘goose-bump moments’, and ‘suspenseful’.
Pamela said: “With a dead-end job, no family to call her own and a non-existent love life, Vanessa finds her life boring and routine.
“Most of the time she feels invisible to the world.
“But Vanessa is wrong - very wrong.
“Vanessa is being stalked - she just doesn’t know it.
“Could a chance encounter with a handsome stranger be enough to save her life?
“Or is she destined to be the next victim of the serial killer terrorising the streets of Manchester?”
Although well-read, the inspiration from her latest book also comes from Pamela’s indulgence in small screen Nordic noir.
A Walk in the Dark has all the addictive hallmarks of classic shows such as The Killing, The Bridge or Bordertown.
