OPEN REGISTRATIONS FOR SPORT TITLES AND CREDENTIALS ONLY.
Access to the race is reserved ONLY to fifty athletes, who have the necessary sporting credentials. Please keep in mind that ONLY the first fifty athletes who will register on the website www.aquaticrunner.com will be allowed to participate in the race. The credentials of those fifty athletes will be accurately and carefully screened and verified by the organizers. All other athletes who wish to register will be put on a waiting list.
On the Aquaticrunner web site the athlete will find the credentials needed to register for the pre-selection.
The opening date for registration for qualified athletes only is scheduled on Thursday December 22nd 2022 starting at 21:00 CET (Central Standard Time)
EVENT DETAILS
The TENTH edition of Aquaticrunner will take place on Saturday September 23rd starting in Grado, Italy at 6:50 am CET (starting time could change depending on the tide conditions of that day). The finish line will be in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy. The event, promoted by the CSEN (Centro Sportivo Educativo Nazionale), is valid also for the CSEN 2023 national championship, which also awards the individual Swimrun world title. The total distance of the race is 25.6Km: 19.2Km of running, 4.75Km of swimming, mixed with an additional 1.65 Km of knee-deep water areas (similar to 2022 course) From Grado, the athletes will swim and run across five islands between Grado and Lignano, passing through the Marano Lagoon and arriving in Lignano Sabbiadoro, in Piazza Terrazza mare.
As every year 250 athletes (limited number) are expected to come from twenty nations are expected. Several of them Triathlon and Swimming sports champions. Please let’s not forget that due to the selective admission process to access Aquaticrunner the athlete must have restrictive sports credentials or take a slot in the qualifying swim run competitions that provide for it.
In 2022, for the first time ever a one hundred percent visually impaired athlete, Carnevale Cristiano (guided by Pellizzon Renato), participated in the Aquaticrunner race. Cristiano has been visual impaired since the age of 25. His time was 04:53:44. Aquaticrunner is open to repeat that experience.
Race packets will be delivered on Thursday September 21st in Lignano from 18.00 to 20.00 (CET) with a buffet. On Friday September 22nd from 18:00 to 20:00 (CET), there will be the presentation of foreign teams and top athletes, an event made with the GIT (Grado Impianti Turistici) Grado and the councilor for sport to involve the community.
DETAILS OF PARTICIPATING ATHLETES
Among the leading athletes participating in the event are going to be German-Iraqi Faris Al-Sultan, IRONMAN Hawaii world champion in 2005, European Ironman champion in 2011 and 7 ironman distance wins in his career. Daniel Hofer native of Bolzano Italy. Several times Italian duathlon and triathlon champion and current IWC World Championship 2019 world champion), winner also of the 2020 and 2022 edition. Daniel is also Part of the Carabinieri military corps. Francesco Cauz, winner of various editions of Aquaticrunner and finisher in 2022 at the Hawaii ironman. Spaniard Ignasi Gironès Pujadas has also been confirmed, overall winner of the 2021 IWC world edition and 2nd overall at the 2022 aquaticrunner one second from the first; Valerio Cleri from Roma medalist of 25 km swim at the 2009 Roma World Championships and 2021 IWC Swimrun Italian champion; Andrea Secchiero 7 times Italian Aquathlon champion and third Italian at the Aquaticrunner 2021 and 2022. Also expected is the participation of Jacopo Butturini Croatian champion 2022 on the Olympic distance. The public figure Andrea ''Pelo'' di Giorgio has entered the competition and will participate for the eighth time. Adriel Young from Australia has been invited. Adriel world champion in 2017 and 2018 in Otillo a two athletes team swim run event. In 2018 Australian competed in the 2018 Aquaticrunner event finishing third overall.
Among the women we will see the participation of Allegra Bacco, the current IWC World Champion; Jessica Galliani from Lombardia winner of Aquaticrunner in 2015 and 2018; Adelaide Cappellini from Alto Adige (former Golden Flames an Italian military corps) and winner of an edition of the IWC world championship.

MEDIA COVERAGE
In 2023 (as in 2022) a live streaming of Aquaticrunner will be broadcasted on YouTube channel. During the past events we registered thousands of accesses shared in Italy, in Spain, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, countries from which various foreign athletes came from. In 2023 we will continue to use the free App-Aquaticrunner for IOS and Android systems. As in 2022 two press conferences are planned: one in Lignano and one in Grado. Many articles on the event are published on social and print media every year throughout the world like in Canada and the Canary Islands-Spain, but also in Uruguay and all over Europe.
The Italian Aquaticrunner staff keeps working with the Italian, Canadian, Uruguayan, Greek, Belgian, Hungarian, Spaniards, Algerian swim race organizers to set up qualifying swim run competitions to enter the 2023 Aquaticrunner event. On September 18th 2022 for 2023 event (only for finisheres of 2022 event) athletes from 16 nations have already registered. Two media partners, Mondo Triathlon and Radio Company will be present in 2023 as it was for 2022 and will support Aquaticrunner event. In addition, the Triathlete Magazine, a monthly magazine, will continue to cover and report on the event. September 23rd Dario Nardone will also be present with for live TV interviews of the race. Race videos, now over 30, can be viewed on the Aquaticrunner Youtube channel. Several shots with various drones, made by top-level professionals and broadcast on national and international media can show the theme and passion of the race.
INTERNATIONAL PARTHERSHIP
This year we are developing a collaboration with Algeria in order to involve Africa, Europe and South and North America. On February 17th 2023 the Aquaticrunner delegation will go to the Algerian desert to meet with the Algerian partner to establish a relationship with North Africa (Sahara Triathlon).
The same formula was applied with the organizers of the competitions in the Canary Islands in 2018 and 2019 (Swimrun Canaries), with Belgium (Ecoswimrun) in 2017 and 2022 and with Hungary (eXtremeMan) in 2019 to today. In those races we have the participation of our athletes and their athletes participating in our events. A partnership has also been established for two years with the Canadian competitions, which every year bring dozens of athletes from Canada to compete in Grado and Lignano. We also have a partnership with the most important Greek race, Hydra Swimrun.
All of these races award slots to enter the IWC Aquaticrunner World Final.
Also, in Italy there are several races that assign slots: Bilancino Swimrun, Serenissima Venezia Swimrun, Breeze Swimrun, Amphibianman Lignano, Barcis Swimrun, Sardegna Swimrun (with more races), Bologna Swimrun, Benacus Garda Swimrun and some slots are assigned by Swimrun South (within the Swimrun School project for southern Italy).
CELEBRITY ENDORSEMENT
Claudio Chiappucci will be testimonial of the race. Claudio a former cycling professional in 1991 conquered the Milan-Sanremo. In 1992, after the success at the Giro del Trentino, Chiappucci. beaten by Indurain, took second place in the Giro d'Italia He then took part in the Tour de France, reaching the podium for the third time in a row.
In the spring of 1993, the guy from Varese was third in the Freccia Vallone and then second in the Tour de Romandie and the Giro del Trentino. At the Giro d'Italia he finished third, at the 1994 World Championship he was Silver in the road race. He also made some appearances in triathlon competitions in Italy.
ADDITIONAL EVENTS
In addition to Aquaticrunner Grado-Lignano, on the day of the race, starting from 12:00 noon (CET) an official CSEN swimming and running competition is scheduled in Lignano for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Second year in a row of this Aquaticrunner specials. As in the past years due to the press conference a few days before race day a Triathlon or Swimrun promotional event is also planned.
ADMINISTRATION AND SPONSORS.
Friuli Venezia Giulia regional authorities. municipalities of Lignano Sabbiadoro, Grado and Marano Lagunare have confirmed their presence at the event to support it.
