Bucks Bond Spectre Agent book on the blues

Added: (Fri Feb 11 2022)

Pressbox (Press Release) - He may have failed to kill Daniel Craig in the latest Bond blockbuster, but part-time Buckinghamshire actor Michael Kerry White has hit the target with his debut novel.
The 74-year-old from High Wycombe recently appeared as a Spectre agent in No Time to Die, to add to his impressive CV which includes roles in other screen hits such as His Dark Materials, Urban Hymn and Downton Abbey.
But the father of two has gone back to his first love of blues music for the inspiration in his first novel, Shooting for the Moon.
The feel-good page-turner has already earned five-star reviews.
Critics have described Shooting for the Moon as a ‘great read’ and ‘infused with delta blues’.
Reviewer Ed Webster asked: “Can there be a film please?”
Michael, who splits his working time between acting and public speaking, admits his novel has helped make up for the dream he never realised.
He explained: “I always wanted to own a blues bar but soon realised that I had neither the money nor the know-how.
“Instead, I decided to write about one.
“I have many blues musicians as friends, and they are full of stories, so it wasn’t difficult making the characters seem real.
“I’m already having thoughts of turning Shooting for the Moon into a screenplay similar to The Commitments.”
Shooting for the Moon follows the fortunes of Joby Black who doesn’t seem to have much going for him.
But that is all about to change during the will-reading after the death of an almost forgotten uncle from his youth.
Michael explains: “Joby Black loves blues music but as an average man, living an average life, his future is looking very average.
“Then out of nowhere a legacy from his long-lost, errant uncle turns his world upside down and Joby’s average life will never be the same again.
“Shooting for the Moon is an uplifting tale showing that you never know what’s around life’s next corner - a story of friendship, discovery and the blues.”
Michael, who used to have James Cordon as his lodger during the early days of Gavin and Stacey, is already planning a sequel to Shooting for the Moon.
