Middle Grade Book Series Features Epileptic Protagonist!

Added: (Fri Aug 06 2021)

Pressbox (Press Release) - There is a new middle grade book series on the market that features a protagonist with epilpesy!

Nine-year-old Ginger has a mild seizure disorder. Although her seizures don’t happen very often, they are huge to her. Because of the seizures, Ginger is on medications that stunt her growth and make her feel like an outsider. When her mom announces that they’re going to move to a new home in the country, Ginger starts to panic about facing new bullies at her new school. Will Ginger crumble under the pressure of the move, or will she manage to flourish instead?

The author, Andrea Witt, grew up with epilepsy. She knows first-hand how difficult it can be to suffer from all aspects of epilepsy. Being a child is difficult sometimes, even without the struggles of epilpesy.

Andrea loved to read as a child and wished there was a character with whom she could easily relate. Andrea created Ginger for all children, with and without epilepsy to relate to. Children who struggle with seizures can relate to Ginger's medical issues and children who do not have throse struggles can learn from them and relate to all the regular childhood situations Ginger lives through.

The Woes of a Ginger Named Red Series is available online at Waterstones & Amazon. There are currently 3 books available in the series: Book 1--The Big Move, Book 2--Treasures in the Attic, and Book 3--New Home Holidays. Book 4--The Great Summer Kick-off, is coming in 2022.

As an adult, Andrea still struggles with epilpepsy. She suffered 3 seizures a couple of weeks ago and cannot drive for 6 months. Please support her talents and career!
