- One in three employees don’t use VPN to connect to the company network while working from home
- With increased digitalization and cloud migration, the corporate network now extends further out into the Internet — beyond the boundaries and firewalls of an organization. Even the concept of WAN and branch offices is extended. Partners, customers, suppliers, and employees connect to the corporate network from remote locations around the globe.
In that sense, it is a borderless network of interconnected networks. That ups the risk for data security, network security, and endpoint security. The threat landscape has broadened to include threats to both, wired and wireless networks. Therefore, when one thinks about network security, it is not just about the security of the internal network, but also that of the extended network.
With more and more software as a service models emerging, demand for security has increased at endpoints and even cloud systems.
To validate its research on the usage of network security solutions, CISO MAG conducted a multiple-choice survey, in the month of February 2020. There were 280 respondents for this survey that included CISOs, COO, CSO, Compliance Managers, CIOs, CEOs, data protection managers, Director of IT and others.
Key Findings:
• Even though the adoption of multiple lay¬ers of protection is more than 60%, several organizations rely on Antivi¬rus and Firewall solutions from vendors at 36%.
• 80.6% of respondents suggest using an amalgamation of NAC policies including Identity Awareness, Centralized man¬agement and monitoring, and Ease of Deployment
• 79.5% companies still believe in some sort of a supervision on machine learning solutions on network traffic analysis
• When it comes to Perimeter Security, nearly 30% organizations consider se¬curing Internet, WAN, LAN, and Cloud together
• 35% of respondents suggest that while se¬curing Endpoints the key areas they focus on are Company Owned PCs/Server, Mo¬bile Devices, BYOD, and IoT
• When it comes to intrusion sensors and modules, IPS tops the chart with 22.3% followed by UTM at 18.7% and IDS at 10.8%
• 68.7% opt for the hybrid approach for Network Security management 36.6% companies are already using SDN architecture while 63.3% are in the adoption stage
• 57.6% organizations still consider data se¬curity as the biggest security risk in cloud migration
COVID-19 Snap Poll
With the COVID-19 pandemic, or¬ganizations across the world are re¬stricting their employees to work from home as part of social distancing to de¬crease the outbreak. On the flip side, most indus¬try experts state that remote work increases the risks of cyber threats like never before.
To gauge a deeper insight on the precautions companies are taking to combat the threats looming on the cyberspace, CISO MAG also did a snap poll after the survey.
Snap Poll key findings:
• Only 70% respondents stated that they were using company VPNs to secure¬ly log in to the company network while 30% did not.
• Almost all the compa¬nies have secured endpoint devices (laptop/ phone) of employees.
• Employees connect to the Internet either using home Wi-Fi connections or hotspot on mobile phone, while nearly 25% use company dongles along with home Wi-Fi and phone hotspot.
Methodology
This survey is based on the results of an online survey that was conducted by CISO MAG readers from EC-Council’s database. The respondents represent a cross-section of organizations from over 56 countries ranging from Argentina, Australia, U.S., U.K., Russia, India, France, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Italy, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Lithuania and even smaller countries and islands like Malawi, Mali, Nauru. Puerto Rico, Rwanda, Togo, Trinidad and Tobago, among several others. The survey was prepared in consultation with security experts and industry analysts.

- Abstract: Aluminized composite film is a common barrier material for pharmaceutical packaging. Based on the principle of electrolytic sensor, this paper tests the water vapor transmission rate of three kinds of aluminized composite film samples for pharmaceutical packaging, compares their moisture barrier performance, and introduces the test principle, equipment parameters, applicable scope, test process, etc., which provides a reference for the test of water vapor transmittance of aluminized composite film samples.

Significance
There are many kinds of packaging materials for drugs, such as plastic bottles, aluminum foil, hard film, aluminum plating composite film, CO extrusion composite film, etc. these materials should have high barrier performance, which can prevent the drugs from discoloration, deterioration, moisture absorption, caking and other quality problems. The barrier performance of drug packaging materials includes the barrier of oxygen, nitrogen, water vapor and other gases, such as preventing the excessive permeation of oxygen and water vapor in the environment into the inside of the package, lowering the nitrogen content in the package.
Due to the different types of packaging materials, their barrier properties are different. For the aluminum plating composite film, due to the existence of aluminum plating layer, the barrier properties of this kind of materials are not only related to the material composition of plastic polymer materials, but also related to the aluminum plating process. In this paper, through the test of water vapor transmission rate of aluminized composite film for drug packaging, the difference of moisture barrier performance of this kind of material is compared.

The test principle of water vapor transmittance includes cup method, infrared sensor method, electrolytic sensor method, humidity sensor method, etc. the electrolytic sensor method is adopted in this test. Test Instrument
In this paper, C330h Water Vapor Transmission Rate Test System is used for the test. The instrument is independently developed and produced by Jinan Labthink Instruments Co., Ltd.
Test results
The water vapor transmission rate of 1#, 2# and 3# composite film samples we0.071 g/(m2•d), 0.234 g/(m2•d) and 0.248 g/(m2•d) respectively.
Conclusion
In this test, three simples were tested at one time, the efficiency is high, , the instrument is intelligence and simple to operate, test conditions were stable during the whole test, and the results were therefore accurate and reliable. According to the test results, all three samples had low water vapor transmission rate, indicating that the moisture barrier performance were high. 1# sample has the lowest water vapor transmission rate and the best moisture barrier performance, and the other two samples have the same moisture barrier performance.

- NORTHVALE, New Jersey, USA – New Yorker Electronics has announced the release of a new ultra-thin polymer electrolytic capacitor that represents a totally new capacitor form factor. The Cornell Dubilier Electronics’ new PPC Series, designed specifically for applications requiring high ripple current and the thinnest profile possibilities, opens up entirely new product design options. In addition to being just 1 mm thin, the PPC uses versatile packaging technology that makes it possible for capacitors to be formed into custom shapes and sizes to accommodate available space.
Rated for 125°C, PPC combines the advantages of aluminum electrolytic and aluminum polymer technology. These capacitors have the ultralow ESR characteristics of conductive aluminum polymer capacitors in a 1mm thin package. With high capacitance and high ripple current per volume, applications for 125°C polymer capacitors include DC/DC converters, tablets, telecommunications, thin displays, and variety of industrial power conversion.
A single PPC capacitor can handle ripple currents equivalent to dozens of SMT capacitors or a bulky cylindrical device. In fact, CDE has stated that a single PPC capacitor is equivalent to a parallel bank of 50 or more polymer tantalum capacitors – at one fourth the height. Using a single unit means PPC capacitor solutions are lighter in weight and can improve overall circuit reliability.
Custom values are available within a capacitance range of 8,000µF to 20,000µF, with working voltages ranging from 6.3 to 24 WVDC. Cornell Dubilier plans to extend the series to higher operating voltages later in the year. Operating life is 2,000 hours @ 125°C.
The PPC is rated for 10 g peak for vibration and withstands shocks up to 100 g’s (MIL-STD-202, Method 213, Condition I). With flat tin-plated copper terminations, it is possible to mount the device off-board or directly to a PCB. Mounting is by means of 3M double-sided VHB tapeTM, to ensure that the entire capacitor surface is kept rigid.
