- Test for Total Migration of Liquid Dairy Products in Black and White Film Packaging
- 1. Significance
With the improvement of people's living standard, liquid dairy products have become an indispensable part of people's daily diet. The common liquid dairy products packaging includes black and white film, white film, sterilized PE paper aluminum composite films, plastic cup, plastic barrel, glass bottle, etc., which are in direct contact with liquid dairy products. Therefore, the safety of packaging is directly related to the safety of liquid dairy products.
Black and white films include two types: non-barrier black and white films and barrier black and white films. The former is made of polyethylene as the main raw material and a certain proportion of white and black master batch. The latter is based on the former to add high barrier materials, such as EVOH, PVDC, etc. In addition to the master batch, in order to ensure the good performance of black and white film, smooth agent, dispersant, antistatic agent will also be added during the production process. When used as packaging material, these substances will migrate into the packaging contents, which is a liquid dairy product in this case. Therefore, by monitoring the migratable substances in the black and white film, it can prevent the migratable substances in the packaging from polluting the liquid dairy products and affecting its safety.
The total migration introduced in this paper reflects the total amount of migratable substances in packaging.
2. Standard
The test is based on ISO 759-1981 Volatile organic liquids for industrial use — Determination of dry residue after evaporation on water bath — General method. The standard specifies the food simulant, test conditions and test methods for migration test, and how to test the total migratable content in the simulation solution.
3. Sample
In this test, black and white film for yogurt packaging was used as the test sample.
4. Test instrument
The test instrument used in this paper is C830 Migration and Non-Volatile Matter Content Tester, which is independently developed and produced by Jinan Labthink Instruments Co., Ltd.
4.1 Test principle
The whole test is divided into two parts: migration process and testing process. The total migration test is a test process to simulate the contact process between food and packaging materials, so that the migratable matters in the packaging materials can migrate to the food simulants, and to test the total amount of the transportable substances through the evaporation drying weighing process.
5. Test process
(1) Take 200ml of simulated solution from the sample and put it into the evaporation dish that has been dried and weighed, and take the same volume of blank simulated solution for blank test.
(2) Place the evaporating dish on the tray rack in the instrument chamber and close the test chamber cover. Set the evaporation temperature, test mode, drying temperature, drying time and other parameters, click the “test” option to start the test.
(3) The instrument automatically completes evaporation, drying and weighing according to the set parameters. After the test, the instrument displays the calculation results. Evaporation reagent recovered automatically by the treatment equipment.
6. Test result
The total migration of black and white film samples tested in this test is 1.1 mg / dm2.
7. Conclusion
In this paper, the total migration of black and white film samples for liquid dairy product packaging was tested. The results show that the total migration of the samples is low, which can meet the requirements of the standard. The instrument used in the test is easy to operate, and can automatically recycle the volatile reagents, prevent the potential pollution of the environment.
