- ADELAIDE BOOKS is proud to offer the latest work by Jim Metzner Sacred Mounds hitting stores everywhere on June 16, 2020.
Cyclonic hordes of insects, a telepathic despot, body-swapping sex - just a few of the surprises Salvador Samuels encounters when he finds himself swept back to pre-colonial times walking in the moccasins of a blind Indian - who, in turn, has been transported into Salvador's body in present day America. Four hundred years apart, they're bound by a common mission to rescue our world, aided by the mysterious presence of the mounds. Thousands of these ancient earthworks once dotted the landscape of North America. We still don't know why they were created. Sacred Mounds suggests they are as important today as when they were made over a thousand years ago.
Sacred Mounds, a first novel of magical realism and historical fantasy, weaves the stories of two men, each a stranger in a strange land. With the help of two remarkable women, they must find a way to save our planet and return home.
Jim Metzner studied acting at Yale Drama School and enjoyed a brief career working as a singer-songwriter in London.
He has been producing sound-rich audio programs since 1977, including Pulse of the Planet, which has been on the air since 1988 and is now heard widely as a podcast. For many years, Jim produced features and commentaries for All Things Considered, Marketplace, Weekend Edition and other public radio programs. He has recorded all over the world and received major grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Grammy Foundation.

- ADELAIDE BOOKS is proud to offer the latest work by Stan G. Duncan The Fire On Poteau Mountain hitting stores everywhere on June 4th, 2020.
In The Fire on Poteau Mountain, an elderly pastor reflects back on the people and stories he encountered in a small town at the foot of Poteau Mountain in the early 1970s. As a young pastor, filled with his own feelings of doubt and inadequacy, he interacted with his parishioners and today retells their stories of pain and loss, heroism and humor. The people in these stories are both uplifting and gritty. They struggle in a world of sin and grace, tragedy and hope, and their devotion to their little church on the hill is somewhere in the middle.
Stan G. Duncan is originally from Oklahoma, the setting for this collection of stories, but has lived in a number of other states and countries working (mainly) as both an economics instructor and local church pastor. His previous books have been in human rights, economics, and religion. This is his first book of fiction. He is presently at work on his second, tentatively titled Zacamil, and based on his years of working in El Salvador as an economic development advisor in the 1980s when the country was in a civil war.

About Baker’s Bacon
Unable to find bacon that met his high standards for freshness and ingredients, Chef Tony Baker, longtime chef at Montrio Bistro in Monterey, founded his own brand in 2011. Baker’s Bacon began with a partnership between longtime smoke master and bacon expert Steve Sacks at Prime Smoked Meats in Oakland, California. Baker and Sacks worked together for over a year experimenting with cures until they settled on the recipe that is still in use today. The goal was and is to make real bacon — “Bacon The Way It’s Supposed To Be!”
Baker’s Bacon is made in California, dry cured and slowly smoked using real applewood chips. Baker’s Bacon uses only the highest quality, sustainable-raised heritage breed pork. There are no antibiotics or hormones, no gestation or farrowing crates, and it all 100% vegetarian-fed, U.S. family farm-grown pork. It is slowly dry cured and double-smoked using real applewood. It is offered in whole slab, sous vide, or sliced.

- New Book by Dennis Donoghue: The Final One Eighty
- ADELAIDE BOOKS is proud to offer the latest work by Dennis Donoghue The Final One Eighty hitting stores everywhere on May 20th, 2020.
The Final One Eighty, a day-by-day account of author’s last year as a sixth-grade teacher. The memoir reveals what it’s like to teach in a public school these days, highlighting conflicts, frustrations, and successes with humor and introspection, all from the point of view of someone who’d been at it for 37 years. Each of the 180 days is a stand-alone chapter, an essay really, with a particular anecdote examined to reveal a deeper significance.
Written after a full career of over three and a half decades, its perspective differs vastly from typical teacher memoirs which tend to document the first year (or else are authored by journalists who teach for the purpose of producing a memoir about the experience). Certainly, new, and veteran teachers would see themselves reflected in this work. And since most people have attended public schools and send their kids to them, they would also find it appealing, as it provides an intimate look at daily maneuverings of not only the teacher but everyone around him-- students, colleagues, administrators and parents.
Dennis Donoghue retired as an elementary school teacher in 2014. His work had appeared in various journals, magazines, and anthologies, including Blue Lake Review, Brandeis Review, Broad River Review, Full Circle Review, and Georgetown Review. He lives in Massachusetts.

- ADELAIDE BOOKS is proud to offer the latest work by Ana Vidosavljević Flower Thieves hitting stores everywhere on May 20th, 2020.
Every season brought something beautiful to our hometown.
In summer, people would swarm around Vlasina river and town’s lake, swim and enjoy warm sunny days. Summer heat made everyone a bit slow and lazy and even minutes and hours felt tired and lethargic and moved in slow motion.
Autumn brought red and yellow colors that covered the whole town. The parks were hushed in the fallen leaves and the wonderful smell of zimnica (the food prepared for winter) preparation, especially ajvar filled the air of my hometown.
White was the color of winter. My hometown, Vlasotince, was tucked into a valley in the southeast Serbia. We had beautiful white winters. The slopes of the hills surrounding the town gave a lot of joy to the children. They went sledding down the slopes of the hills and enjoyed the magic of snow.
Spring again brought plenty of colors. Blossoms and flowers bathed the town in freshness and greenery. Every house’s garden was full of flowers. Different types and different sizes. There were tulips, lilies, narcissus flowers, bell flowers, snowdrop flowers. Splash of colors invited the children who played on the street to admire these masterpieces of nature.

NASHVILLE: The trust for Artist/Humanitarian Dobie Gray re-released today
“Streets of Fire” Penned 25 years ago, Gray urges Non-
Violence, Love & Togetherness which is more relevant
today as protest against systemic racism continues
worldwide.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcH576s8sgE
The song begins “Have you heard the songs of Sirens filling up the night/ Have you watched the Flames of Anger Burn something isn’t right/ You and I can stop the madness/doesn’t matter who’s to blame/ Together We can Change”.
Like Classic Dobie Gray, his Soulful Voice brings “If the Heartless few dividing Us/ the many stand to lose/ we must rise above indifference or All stand accused/ Faith can move the Mountains but the Faithful must be Strong /along the way as we journey on!”
In the Chorus Gray pleads “Streets of Fire to Peaceful Roads/ Cease all the Violence/ let the
Healing waters flow/ may the vail of Hatred can be lifted from our Eyes/ when the Mighty gates of Love to open wide!”
Best known for the Classic Rock Anthem “Drift Away” a staple on today’s radio airplay,
Gray was born to a sharecropper family in Simonton TX and discovered Gospel music through his grandfather, a Baptist minister. Gray rose to fame with the “In Crowd” in 1965. Watching the turbulent times change in the late 60’s he played the Lead in the LA Musical Hair. Moving to Nashville in the mid 70’s, Gray’s soulful-heart felt Baritone was against the grain in the Music City. As “Drift Away” climbed the Charts, cross over artist started recording at Quad Studios and Gray rose to International fame touring Europe, Australia, and Africa.
Against Apartheid, he refused to perform in South Africa until 1978 when he became the first Artist to perform to a integrated audience. Reflecting, “Streets of Fire” was penned and later performed at the Mandela Gala in 1996 in Johannesburg as Gray was given a Medal for Breaking the Color Barrier.
When Dobie Gray passed, he left his musical assets in trust to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and The TN School for the Blind. Dobie Gray never gave up, payed it forward and his whole life “Walked the Walk” with proceeds from his Streaming going to the Charities above and the lesson “as we look to the future, we must learn from the lessons from our past”
