Pressbox (Press Release) - A Kent-based clairvoyant admits she didn’t foresee that one day she would become a successful author.
Trish Mitchell has built up a considerable reputation for her psychic and healing abilities.
But it took the Nan from Westgate-on-Sea more than six decades to realise she was capable of writing a five-star-rated book.
The Butterfly that Learnt to Fly has been met with a string of glowing reviews from critics since its recent publication.
The biographical novel has been described as ‘a touch of magic’, ‘delightful’ and ‘an amazing emotional and spiritual journey’.
The 68-year-old said: “I never knew I could write a book until I was 64 – and it took a teacher when I joined her creative writing group with her support, giving me the opportunity to realise my dream.
“My greatest personal achievement was to finally write my book, which had sat in my head for many years.
“From start to finish it has taken three years and six months – there were times when I wanted to give up, but blood sweat and tears got me through.
“I was determined.”
While loosely based on Trish’s own difficult childhood and her lengthy journey of recovery, The Butterfly that Learnt to fly is ultimately a story of hope and self-discovery.
Set in the Northumberland coastal town of Bamburgh, the gripping page-turner follows the fortunes of Tilly Fellowes as she attempts to recover from years of abuse.
The beautifully-paced narrative also contains many of Trish’s own techniques for healing.
She explained: “The Butterfly that Learnt to Fly is about overcoming trauma and abuse.
“I have written it as a novel - not as a self-help book - as I wanted to create a story with characters that reflected my own life story.
“I want my book to help people understand that what they are feeling is from being broken and constant abuse.
“To read The Butterfly that Learnt to Fly will be a journey of self-discovery for many people as it shows them how they will feel when they start to heal from the insidious, damaging abuse they have endured.
“Empowerment and finding one’s self is the best gift you can give yourself - it gives you freedom to live the life you want to live.
“The life you want and deserve.”
As well as being a highly regarded healer and psychic, Trish is an in-demand spiritual life coach and tarot card reader.
Following the successful release of The Butterfly that Learnt to Fly, she is considering writing a sequel.
