Bucks film producer hopes readers enjoy his new book

Buckinghamshire film producer and screenplay writer Alex Maister is hoping the allure of unicorns will take him down a new path as a novelist.
The screenwriting graduate from the UCLA film school has established a fine reputation for his involvement in the movie industry.
But the 60-something father-of-one has now branched into fantasy novels with the publication of his first book, A Change of Reign: Realm of the Unimages.
Alex, who began writing as a teenager, hopes switching from scripts to novels will be a new avenue onto the screen.
He explained: “If there's enough interest in A Change of Reign: Realm of the Unimages, I plan to proceed with further books in the series.”
“I've outlined the first three books, with the possibility of more depending on interest.
“Ideally, I envision it evolving into either a TV series or a feature film, having originated as a draft pilot script in one of my UCLA online writers' workshops.”
A Change of Reign: Realm of the Unimages follows the fortunes of Princess Sallina as she leads a diverse group of unicorns to explore Earth.
Set in England, the allegorical gripper delves deep into the country’s values.
As the shape-shifting protagonists search for a magical life-force to aid their dying homeland, they encounter unexpected dangers.
While A Change of Reign: Realm of the Unimages is a thrilling page-turner, it is the story’s underlying themes that lift it way above other fantasy novels.
Alex, whose favourite authors include JRR Tolkien, John Le Carré and Charles Bukowski, added: “Join a diverse group of unicorns, spanning different ages, as they explore Earth, with a focus on England and a secondary school.
“Beyond the surface, the story delves into personal values and beliefs, prompting reflection on life's priorities.
“It emphasizes the pursuit of justice, equality, and prosperity for the community, transcending individual goals.
“Politically, it addresses the fragile nature of democracy and the ongoing threat of fascism, rooted in our tendency to seek easy answers and rely on demagogues to manage our lives.”
Despite enjoying a successful career as an international marketing and communications consultant, Alex has pursued a separate life as a screenplay writer and film producer.
He was a regular at the London Screenwriters Workshop in the 1980s before gaining a Writing for Television Diploma from the University of California, Los Angeles.
And so far, two films he helped produce have sold around the world.
Alex is currently working on a sequel to A Change of Reigns: Realm of the Unimages.
