Added: (Tue Oct 11 2022)

Pressbox (Press Release) - The Eric Williams Memorial Collection Research Library, Archives & Museum at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Trinidad and Tobago, announces the release of The Blackest Thing in Slavery Was Not the Black Man: The Last Testament of Eric Williams (ISBN: 978-976-640-747-6).

It constitutes Eric Williams' final unpublished work, edited by former UWI Professor of History, Dr. Brinsley Samaroo, and published by The University of the West Indies Press.

In this book, Eric Williams reflects on the institution of slavery from the ancient European period to New World African slavery. He considers, too, other forms of bondage that followed, of Japanese, Chinese Indian and Pacific peoples worldwide.

Williams points to ways in which this bondage led to European and American prosperity, and the manner in which bonded peoples created their own spaces.
