Gate valve is generally used to completely shut off fluid flow or in the fully open position, provide full flow in a pipeline. Thus it is used either in the fully closed or fully open positions.
The fluid resistance of the gate valve is small. Because the valve body of the gate valve is the straight-through type and the flow of the medium doesn’t change direction, the fluid resistance of it is small compared with other kinds of valves.
The sealing performance of gate valve is better than that of the shut-off valve. The opening and closing of it are more convenient than those of the shut-off valve.
Gate valves are widely applies to petroleum,petrochemical, water treatment, shipping, paper making, power plant, heating, light industry and other industries.
