Having experienced some of the most amazing adventures the world has to offer, it’s little surprise that a new children’s author from Essex is proving so popular with young readers.
Marcia Mason’s The Sheep of Poshington Hall Farm series has already produced three books which reached the top three in Amazon’s children’s charts.
And, her latest release, The Sheep of Poshington Hall Farm: The Trolls’ Knees-Up and Ghostly Goings-On, has also just charted at number two.
Marcia’s books are also receiving five-star reviews from captivated readers.
But her own background story is every bit as magical as the creatures she eloquently describes in her children’s novels.
Fulfilling a wanderlust the 65 year-old retired PA has travelled to some of the remotest places around the globe.
As well as living with forest tribes in Borneo, she was accepted by the primitive people of Irian Jaya and was even detained in Tibet, before making her way over the Himalayas to Nepal.
Marcia said: “To say I lived on the edge is an understatement
I still travel but do better risk assessments.
“I, now feel it’s time to share my fiction first with everyone and then when I have a bit more time my factual travel stories will get done too.”
Marcia’s The Sheep of Poshington Hall Farm is a delightful series which takes readers on wondrous adventures with Icelandic sheep, Hekla and Freya, who come to live on the fells in England’s Lake District.
After saving an Icelandic troll called Lilts, both sheep were rewarded with magic being cast into their fleeces.
She added: “I have been drawing sheep and farm characters since I was about 11 years old, as well as cartoons of my family which I’d give as birthday and Christmas cards.”
“I did start writing a story about the sheep, animals and the places I drew but never finished it until now – the normal sheep became Icelandic sheep after my recent visit to Iceland.”
In the fourth instalment of her series, The Sheep of Poshington Hall Farm: The Trolls’ Knees-Up and Ghostly Goings-On, Hekla and Freya join forces with their troll friend as well as a few ghosts to stop a few flesh-eaters invading their farm.
The Sheep of Poshington Hall Farm: The Trolls’ Knees-Up and Ghostly Goings-On has been described as ‘great fun’, ‘enjoyable’ and ‘educational’.
J V Haste said: “Yet again Marcia Mason has managed to craft another book in The Sheep of Poshington Hall series that will delight the reader, full of trolls, magic, sheep and the other now-familiar animals” characters, to delight and give fun to bedtime reading to delight your children.”
