PROVISO to Integrate with NETCOOL Suite for Best-in-Class Network Fault and Performance Solution

16th November 2000
For immediate distribution Quallaby # 0007

Quallaby, a leading provider of highly scalable network performance solutions, and Micromuse Incorporated, the leading provider of fault and service level management software today announced that Quallaby has joined the Micromuse Developers Alliance. As a Micromuse Netcool Ready Partner, Quallaby will license the Netcool Software Developers Kit (Netcool SDK), to develop a network interface with Netcool applications and create a Netcool Ready solution for its PROVISO DataMart application.

The Micromuse Developers Alliance is a program for leading independent technology providers seeking to offer integrated, off-the-shelf, multi-vendor, open OSS management solutions to service providers and corporate customers. The Netcool SDK provides the necessary tools to enable Quallaby to integrate its PROVISO DataMart application with Micromuse's Netcool suite. The integration of PROVISO DataMart software with Netcool will allow network service providers (NSPs) to enrich OSS applications with efficient network fault analysis and network resource availability to help predict network slow downs and interruptions in network-based customer services. In accounting, billing can be adjusted by delivery against service level agreement commitments and provisioning problems can be reduced with up-to-date information about network availability.

"Service level management is not a stand-alone application so we're excited to be part of the Micromuse Developers Alliance," said Tom Axbey, VP of sales, marketing, and business development at Quallaby. "We look forward to implementing our shared vision of enriching all aspects of service management, from provisioning to billing, through the tight integration of the Netcool suite and PROVISO DataMart."

The Micromuse Developers Alliance provides Micromuse and its alliance members with the resources to cooperatively pursue business, technical and marketing opportunities. Already a significant number of vendors have expressed interest in Micromuse's Developers Alliance Program to develop and provide integrated solutions for mutual customers. Toward that end, Micromuse actively enlists solutions providers offering applications complementary to Netcool. Micromuse provides its approved Netcool Ready partners with the Netcool SDK. Provided in CD-ROM format, the Netcool SDK provides the tools necessary to develop Netcool Probes, Gateways and Data Source Adapters.

"Quallaby has a natural synergy with Micromuse's Developers Alliance because of its commitment to provide high-end carrier-class solutions that deliver rapid access to network information," said Tim Tokarsky, Micromuse's senior vice president, business development. "The goal of the program is to provide off-the-shelf, integrated solutions that will enable our mutual customers to deliver enhanced service assurance and full network integrity to their customers."
