Pressbox (Press Release) - Cannes, France, 20th February 2001 Logica today announced the launch of the new Prepaid Service Agent (PSA) which will allow operators to offer messaging to prepaid subscribers. This will be one element of a Prepaid demonstration at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, 20th-23rd February on stand number E16.

The PSA allows operators to take advantage of growing messaging revenue streams today on a system that is able to support future service offerings as 3G is deployed. To support its implementation in operators networks, including the integration with third party systems, Logica have a full range of technical and business consultancy services.

Prepaid service has been a major driving factor in mobile growth rates with penetration rates amongst subscribers of up to 70% in some countries. The fastest growing mobile application is text messaging – the Short Message Service – or equivalent in other standards. Operators can benefit from these two major trends in providing Prepaid customers a text messaging facility, one which will not expose the operators to a high risk of fraud. Additionally pre-delivery real time rating and charging allows end users access to the same services as post pay. The Aethos Prepaid Service Agent (PSA) is the platform which delivers functionality required delivering text messaging to the pre-paid subscriber.

Flexibility is offered to the network operator since the PSA solution is scaleable, with the capacity to support anywhere from 4000 through to 4 million transactions per hour - and built on open and standards based interfaces. Already tested and available with Logica SMSC and integrated with Logica m-World portal.

Logica’s Prepaid Service Agent runs on HP9000 servers and fully integrates with Logica Messaging , Prepaid and third party prepay platforms. Additionally this can be provided as a turn key solution. The clustered architecture ensures high reliability required for Telecoms operators.
