Leading Solutions from ADC’s Singularit.e Suite Means Operators can Bill for the Quality of Delivered Service

CANNES – 20th February, 2001 – ADC (Nasdaq: ADCT; www.adc.com ), a leading global supplier of fibre optics, network equipment, software and integration services for broadband multiservice networks, is demonstrating how its billing software integrates with its service assurance solutions to allow operators to meet the challenge of billing their customers according to the quality of service they deliver. The flexibility of key components from ADC’s Singularit.e operational support system (OSS) suite, exhibit how integrating Singularit.e solutions can help operators reduce development costs and introduce new services.

“The arrival of 3G networks, which enable new ‘always-on’ services mean that new billing models are necessary,” said Neil Philpott, director product marketing for ADC. “The industry has been discussing these models, but we have used our experience and expertise to act now to satisfy customer demand. The Singularit.e suite allows 2.5G and 3G operators to bill their customers according to the quality of the service they deliver, rather than simply by airtime.

That delivery of quality service is underpinned by ADC’s Singularit.e solution, which helps operators maintain and enhance the management of their networks. ADC’s Billing for Quality of Service capabilities link the Metrica service assurance solution, including Metrica/NPR (network performance reporting), Metrica/SLA (service level agreement) and Metrica/PAS (performance alarm server), with the Singl.eView billing and customer management solution. The Metrica solutions proactively manage and report on the service being provided against an agreed level of service quality and informs Singl.eView which calculates and applies a credit or a discount accordingly.
