Universities turn to e-HR

Access Consulting, provider of IT-driven HR solutions, is announcing today that it has signed a significant contract with Napier University to implement SAP HR modules. Access・ leading advantage was its previous experience in this sector, particularly its recent success at the University of Stirling. The portfolio of clients that Access has gained show that universities are increasingly turning to e-HR. The Napier contract is Access・ sixth in the educational sector over past 2 years.

Napier University, Edinburgh, has a growing international reputation as a provider of high quality career-oriented education. It was ranked among the top three new universities in Scotland in the FT・s guide to the UK・s top 100 universities (April 2000). It is also one of the largest universities in Scotland with over 1,700 staff.

In line with its modern ethos, the University is committed not only to constantly developing its portfolio of courses, but also to making its internal services even more efficient. The personnel department was determined to find the best available solution to enhance its personnel and payroll services.

Following completion of a thorough tendering process, Nick Rogers, Director of Personal Services, said: :Having scoured the market, we are confident that SAP offers a package which is truly leading edge. We are also delighted to be working with Access Consulting. We feel that they will be able to support us now and with our longer-term personnel and payroll needs;.

By April 2001 Napier University will have new HR and payroll systems in operation but this is only the beginning of a much longer-term partnership. Over time they hope to introduce other SAP modules covering recruitment, training and even employee self-service.

The Napier University contract comes to Access as another University・s implementation is completed. The University of Stirling・s new HR system went live on the 1 April this year. Kathy McCabe, Project Manager at the University, said: :So many different areas have been improved by the new system, from payment of external examiners to the management of annual awards, we・ve been absolutely delighted. Even for regular activities, staff have expressed new found confidence in the data.;
