Pressbox (Press Release) -
Ondivorce (www.ondivorce.co.uk) is celebrating its second anniversary. The UK has the highest divorce rate in Europe, and to make life easier for those people affected, ondivorce has brought together new technology and old fashioned friendship.
“Ondivorce was initially set up to provide easy access to information scattered around the web,” says its founder, Paul Maitland, “but in the two years it has been around, the site has established itself as the place where people going through a divorce or separation can meet and be assured of support from others who understand how they feel. Such are the friendships being created through the site that regular meetings now take place around the country”
Paul Maitland still manages to run the site in his spare time and relies on recommendations from visitors and experts such as Agony Aunts to spread the word. Paul stated that “people find attractive the informal, uncommercialised feel of the site, many visitors regarding it as a haven away from their everyday life”.
Having provided the infrastructure, the site acts as a catalyst for people to fulfil the need to talk through their experiences. Since its launch, this demand has been so high that three chat rooms have now been added. “We have also just launched a legal helpline” said Maitland “in order to meet the need for round the clock, seven day a week advice, from the comfort of your home. Starting with the highest divorce rates in Europe, increasing internet usage and the emotions of relationship breakdown being the same no matter where you live, the number of people ondivorce can help seems almost without limit”.
