Housing Ideas Exchange
4pm – 5pm. The networking ideas exchange fayre in the atrium.
Interact with ideas and engagement activities, or just think about what needs to be done differently, in the atrium. This will be an ideas activity, to get people interacting, learning about each other and circulating. Around 30 organisations have requested a table and will bring their thought-provoking exercises for you to get involved with!
5pm – 6:30pm. A choice of 5 specialist ideas workshops
Focus on policy change and improvement in housing and tenancy rights. This social policy and activism based workshop will be facilitated by key local and national campaigners, including Greater Manchester Housing Action, Tenants UK and assorted groups. Room GM327 (3rd Floor)
Discussions on a holistic approach to housing and well-being with Professor Roz Fox on social housing and positive community cohesion, Amy Varle from Social Property Investment, Elizabeth Omerod, from The Society for Companion Animal Studies, as well as other organisations. GM342 LT (3rd floor)
“Criminality, Justice and Homelessness’: looking at addiction, decriminalisation, community based successes & complex needs with Daniel McDonald - Police Officer & Homelessness Solutions Florida; Dr Rob Ralphs, Snr Criminology Lecturer MMU & spice expert; and Phil Morgan former Chief Executive of TPAS and Executive Director of Tenant Services at the Tenant Services Authority: GM327 LT (3rd floor)
Architecture as design solutions for specific housing needs, a creative workshop facilitated by volunteer architects, planners and designers. GM339 (3rd floor)
Humanity Jam performance. Manchester activists showing their squatting documentary, alongside interactive performance for ideas for legalising and improving squats. With Manchester Activists. GM223 (2nd floor)
7pm. Feedback & ‘Just a Minute’ ‘Change Game’ GM LT2 (lower atrium)
The final event is to summarise the thoughts and ideas from the workshops and the findings. And to have a little fun in a timed, just a minute discussion. The debate will finish with ideas on how to take ideas forward for all and compiling information.
8pm. Old Abbey Inn Taphouse – Live Music and after party to socialise further and unwind!
