The company is seeking to recruit around 50 specialist editors in the science and technology sector with particular emphasis upon specialist knowledge of telecommunications and computer engineering, pharmaceutical, chemistry and biotechnology.

John Hanks, the general manager of Derwent Information in Scotland, says: “Our expansion plans at Helensburgh reflect both the positive growth of the company in the UK and our confidence in particular of the scope that exists to rapidly grow our operation in Scotland.”

The company headquartered in central London, decided to expand into Scotland earlier this year because of the rich supply of science and engineering graduates in the country.

Mr Hanks says: “While Derwent is a global company Scotland plays an important role in providing the scientific information needs of our customers around the world. This further development at Helensburgh is recognition of our confidence that Scotland is a premier location for science information based businesses such as ourselves.”
