Why you should pretend to go on vacation

Following calls to increase vacation time for US workers, Virtual Tour Company, Pretend2go.com has launched a free online guidebook for todayís time-pressed traveler.

Londoner, Michael Larbalestier, 35 came up with idea: " People work so hard these days they havenít got the time or energy for real vacations. America's bosses give less than generous time off for their employees, so pretending is the ideal solution."

Planning a vacation can be almost as enjoyable as taking one. The guide has information, hints and tips designed to help you plan your pretend vacation to London. Pretenders will soon be leaving travel brochures lying around the office, planning flights and tour itineraries, even buying foreign currency.

When you pretend to get back home you need some souvenirs. The guide suggests printing a T-shirt with the slogan "I Pretended 2 Love London". If that doesnít quite convince your friends, the company offers to send a handwritten postcard anywhere in the world with your "Hi! Iím in London for the weekend!" message. The site also has links to online shopping, english dinner party ideas, entertainment and museums. You can even pretend to take a river trip down the Thames.

Of course the real London tourist industry wouldnít be too pleased if the virtual thing caught on. But the siteís creator thinks virtual visitors are more likely to make real trips to London in the future: "I love London. Itís a fascinating and exciting city and I would recommend any tourist to come here. The next best thing is to pretend!"

Pretending to go on vacation may catch on because it does have a few very important benefits. First and foremost it's fun and health promoting. Lightening up and laughing with your friends about life helps reduce the harmful effects of stress. It costs virtually nothing, you donít lose your luggage and your houseplants wonít die while youíre away!
