Pressbox (Press Release) - NBC to Invest in Popular Digital Greetings Web Site

NBC and Egreetings Network, Inc., which operates a leading online digital greeting and gift site called Egreetings.com, jointly announced a strategic partnership in an innovative cross-marketing agreement to promote the network's premiere programs and the popular Web site's free digital greetings. As part of the partnership, NBC has agreed to make an investment in Egreetings that includes both equity and on-air promotion.

"NBC and Egreetings have entered into a relationship that will establish Egreetings.com as a key strategic partner for the marketing of NBC programs," said Marty Yudkowitz, President of NBC Interactive.

"Online marketing is a growing focus of our viewer outreach and Egreetings.com provides a powerful communications tool through its free digital greetings that offer a fun and interactive way to promote our primetime programs in the online world," said John Miller, NBC, President of Advertising and promotions.

Elements of the partnership include the right for Egreetings to create free digital postcards and animations for NBC shows. Among the shows initially slated for digital greetings are: 'The Tonight Show,' 'Providence' and 'The 70's.' Egreetings will promote the digital greetings on the Egreetings.com Web site and through email messages to its member base. Egreetings.com will also incorporate links to enable senders of greetings to click through to the relevant NBC show Web site.

"With over 8 million registered members, Egreetings.com will provide a powerful assist to NBC in expanding its viral marketing to promote its popular shows and build viewer loyalty," said Egreetings CEO Gordon M. Tucker. "Every time someone sends a free greeting featuring a favorite NBC show or character, another person is touched by that message and may send a greeting as well. It's a contagious way of building mindshare."
