The Association of Chief Police Officers (A.C.P.O) have agreed to endorse the Next of Kin system and recommend that all forces throughout the UK are made aware of the system.

Next of Kin Ltd. is a nationwide service which revolutionises the way the emergency services have to deal with locating the next of kin of a lost child, a victim of crime or an accident, and even the owner of stolen or lost property.

Based in Bushey, Hertfordshire Next of Kin Ltd. (NoK)’s main purpose is to save emergency services valuable time and resources wasted trying to contact a victim’s chosen next of kin in an emergency situation, which is why A.C.P.O have decided to support the system.

How NoK works:

Many of us have relatives or children of our own who we worry about. There are concerns over their safety both in the home and when they go out, perhaps they have an allergy, illness or medical requirement or maybe they have previously been lost in a shopping mall causing a great deal of worry and stress to yourself and your child. If they had an accident when out on their own or playing with friends, would anyone know your name or where to contact you if you were at work?

Next of Kin offers peace of mind and a practical solution.

It is extremely simple, a person registers with NoK by filling out a form with their details, which can include up to three next of kin contact details and any information on illnesses, allergies or medical conditions, medication requirements and GP details. A personal membership number is then issued and stamped onto a credit card sized membership card or a key ring. In the event of a situation when the emergency services would need to find the next of kin they can quickly and confidentially obtain details via their station or control room by calling the NoK 24 hour emergency call centre quoting the membership number and the officers name, rank and station. A call is then made back to the control room /station to verify that the request is genuine before the details are released.

Child members can be provided with a NoK badge and access to the ‘NoKy’ kids club which can be found on the NoK website.

Pets too can also benefit from NoK. Pet tags are supplied and fit easily onto existing collars.

Commenting on the launch of this service, Next of Kin’s Chief Executive, Lee Smith said “This is a revolutionary new way of providing the emergency services with a valuable system. We are confident that we are providing the emergency services with an important platform for reducing time and resources wasted while trying to locate the correct next of kin.”
This new service also incorporates a number of innovative features which are included in the adult membership. The member receives a NoK window sticker for the home which helps the emergency services in the event of a burglary, fire, or flood etc. and a NoK vehicle sticker (when a vehicle is registered) which alerts the emergency services in the unfortunate event of a road traffic accident. NoK security stickers are issued to place on your personal belongings e.g. video recorder/mobile phone etc. and with the use of an ultra violet pen (not supplied) to mark your property with your NoK membership number allows the police to locate the owner of the goods quickly.

The NoK key ring would also prove helpful, should the member lose their keys, the NoK ID number would help the Police in locating the owner or the owners next of kin. A safer alternative to having a name and address attached to a key ring!

Marc Cass from the hit BBC TV series ‘999’ has also endorsed the NoK system and is supporting the promotional campaign.

For a very reasonable charge of £15.00 a year you can become a member of NoK.
