Wickedweb help ‘Count the Nation in for Census 2001
London, 9th November 2000- Wickedweb (www.wickedweb.co.uk), the leading New Media Communications agency has won a contract from The Office for National Statistics to develop the UK’s Census 2001 Website. This will be the second major contract undertaken by Wickedweb on behalf of the ONS.
Wickedweb’s Census 2001 site is set to launch this month and will operate as one channel of a multi-media, phased publicity campaign to support the census-taking exercise that happens once every 10 years. The site will focus on the recruitment of the massive army of census takers required to complete this programme, with the focus shifting to raising general awareness in the run up to national census day on 29th April 2001.
Wickedweb’s expertise in content design will be used to develop the site as a major platform to promote the benefits of next year’s Census to the nation and as an information point for isolated communities and groups which have previously been difficult to reach. The Census 2001 site will also allow users to submit job enquiries, general enquiries and request promotional materials.
‘The development of the website to support Census 2001 is an essential part of our efforts to spread the Census message and convey its positive effects’ said Rob Reynolds, Census 2001 New Media Campaign Manager at the Office for National Statistics. ‘We are delighted to be working with Wickedweb again and look forward to another successful collaboration.’
Simon Hicks, Managing Director at Wickedweb commented ‘The challenge in this project is to produce a site that presents large amounts of essential information in an interesting and engaging manner. We tackled this very successfully for the National Statistics site and we’re pleased to build on that experience for Census 2001.’
