US technology cuts fuel bills and CO2 by 27%!
18/11/00. London environmental researcher, Alan Selkirk, is today writing to publicly challenge both Michael Meacher and John Prescott. Whilst speakers at the climate conference in The Hague struggle to find new solutions, Selkirk is frustrated with the apparent ignorance of a 21 years old technology which is now capable of saving a massive 27% of vehicle fuel costs and CO2 emissions.
Selkirk explains "Magnetic Resonance Technology has been proven in 62 countries to dramatically reduce fuel consumption and exhaust emissions, including the 'greenhouse gas', CO2. The dti tested an earlier version of this technology in 1992 and published a report showing an 11% improvement in fuel consumption. But the latest generation of these devices, from several US suppliers, show a phenomenal 27.4% saving. This equates to 23p per litre in the UK, as well as 27.4% less CO2 emissions and much higher reductions in other emissions. And this result comes from the US Environmental Protection Agency's Laboratory"
To Michael Meacher, Mr. Selkirk says "This technology gives almost identical emissions reductions and fuel efficiency savings as LPG. And there is no need for a £1000 conversion, or bulky tank. These devices are fitted in 5 minutes and cost around £55. If the Government is serious about global warming, give road-users the equivalent of the huge concessions on duty, and grants offered for LPG conversion." To John Prescott, Selkirk says "Here is a way of cutting the fuel bill and CO2 emissions of every UK vehicle by around 20%. Will the 'listening Government' investigate it?"
Selkirk is concerned that without Government support, this new generation of devices will largely continue to be dismissed by skeptical British drivers as 'too good to be true'. With 22% savings on his own vehicle, he points out "These devices do not wear out and need no maintenance so that massive savings are made year after year. And some suppliers offer 90 days unconditional refund. Yet only a tiny fraction of UK vehicles use the technology, all with earlier generation devices. Because of the disastrous climate changes from CO2 emissions, I will continue lobbying the Government and the Fuel Protest Lobby until they take action."
