HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was received by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA. Al Tayer briefed His Highness about DEWA’s key achievements in smart transformation, which support the Smart Dubai initiative, launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to make Dubai the happiest city on Earth. Smart Dubai was established to empower, deliver and promote an efficient, seamless, safe and impactful city experience. His Highness also reviewed DEWA’s clean energy initiatives that support the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 to provide 7% of Dubai’s total power output from clean energy by 2020, 25% by 2030 and 75% by 2050. One of DEWA’s key projects is the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which will produce 1,000MW by 2020 and 5,000MW by 2030. When complete, it will reduce 6.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
“We were honoured today by the visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to DEWA’s stand. His Highness reviewed a number of DEWA’s smart initiatives and services that support our efforts to achieve the vision of His Highness to provide the best innovative government services around the clock through simple and easy procedures at the highest levels of efficiency to meet customers’ requirements and expectations, to ensure a high-quality life for citizens, residents, and visitors, and make society happier. His Highness also reviewed the latest developments to achieve the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy, which aims to transform Dubai into a global hub for clean energy and green economy. DEWA’s projects adhere to the main themes of the exhibition, which are Happiness, Smart Transformation, and Achievement,” said Al Tayer.
“We are pleased to be participating in this year’s Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition, which is an important step towards achieving the vision of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme, which supports the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, to unify government efforts. The exhibition has established its position as an ideal platform to promote integration among government organisations, while they work on their transformation into smart government systems. The exhibition has also become an umbrella for government organisations to present their achievements, initiatives, projects, and services, and exchange expertise and best practices with local, federal, and international government organisations. It also creates an opportunity for international government organisations to learn about Dubai Government’s experience. This has established a culture of excellence, and has become a role model for government excellence and creativity,” added Al Tayer.
At DIGAE 2016, DEWA presented the Hassyan clean-coal power plant, which will be the first-of-its-kind in the region, has the latest and most advanced technologies in the world and is fully-compliant with international standards.
