COFFEECONTACT.COM SIGNS EXCLUSIVE WEATHER FORECAST
DISTRIBUTION CONTRACT WITH EARTH SATELLITE CORPORATION

WASHINGTON, DC (Dec. 19, 2000) -- Coffeecontact.com and Earth Satellite Corporation (Earthsat) have signed an exclusive agreement to deliver "state-of-the-art" satellite and ground-based crop production monitoring and forecasting to the international green coffee marketplace, giving Coffeecontact.com's membership the advantage of instant access to weather data from the world's coffee-growing regions.

International coffee traders can now take advantage of information on density of coffee areas, key flowering and harvesting periods, weather synopsis and forecasts, and coffee production potential, provided on-line. In a $63 billion per-year worldwide industry, reliable information is critical.

“Earthsat determines what effect the weather from today, yesterday and tomorrow will have on the market," said Coffeecontact.com's President John Wieber. "They issue a comprehensive daily review, forecast and crop impact predictions for every major growing region, telling what the weather has been in the last 24 to 48 hours and what it's going to be for the next five days."

Earthsat provides weather and agricultural information to more than 200,000 customers every day. Satellite imagery helps detail regions in each country having productive or less-than- productive seasons. Earthsat's crop production forecasts are 97 per cent accurate, and are released weeks before government forecasts.

"Cropcast has been monitoring worldwide coffee production for over 20 years and is well-recognized as a world leader in monitoring agricultural production potential," says Larry Heitkemper, Earthsat's director of cropcast services.

“Your website is informative and useful,” says renowned coffee industry expert, publisher and author Suzanne Brown. “The information you email provides value to everyone in the industry -- the ease in navigation, the weather map and up-to-the-minute reports provide one-stop searching for industry professionals, from growers to communicators.”

Coffeecontact.com had been negotiating with Earthsat since the industry site started three months ago. The online coffee and tea exchange is eager to increase its share of a marketplace that increased by close to two percent last year.

"Weather traditionally has been a major determining factor of coffee prices, and has a direct effect on markets," said Wieber. "If you look at any of the peaks and valleys of the market, they're almost always related to weather."

To help anticipate the ups and downs, coffee industry professionals can now take advantage of Coffeecontact.com's dynamic weather content -- providing access to information that's sure to improve their ability to make educated market predictions.

Coffeecontact.com is the Internet's leading site for business-to-business e-commerce in the green coffee and tea industry.
