ASPECT SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES WAP LINK-UP FOR LEADING TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION

Added: (Wed Jan 10 2001)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Leading operational eCRM solutions provider Aspect Software has developed a Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) enabled version of its multi-channel, multi-product application, Touchpoint2. Aspect Software's proprietary technology already enables financial institutions to present traditional paper-based documents, such as statements and insurance renewals in an electronic format, allowing efficient customer acquisition and servicing processes. However, the enhancement of the solution to allow WAP-based access will further strengthen Aspect's position as a leading provider of CRM technologies to the banking and insurance industry.

Gerry O'Connor, Chief Executive Officer at Aspect Software said: "Banks and insurance companies have invested considerable sums of money into the large line-of-business applications now termed 'legacy' systems. It has now become conventional wisdom that such systems are no longer appropriate for the rigours of the e-world, in which customers can access a panoply of products offered by banks and insurance companies via a variety of different channels. As a result of this environment, a well-integrated CRM strategy is essential - WAP is a key component of that."

Explaining the advantages of this new development, Frank O'Beirne, Product Development Manager at Aspect said: "Internet-based distribution channels offer round-the-clock access to information, and present financial service providers with fresh customer service opportunities. The key to remaining competitive lies in ensuring that companies can keep up with the evolution of technology and the demands of customers.

The WAP-enabled version of Touchpoint2 will allow for maximum convenience - customers will be able to take advantage of a single-click application on a mobile interface. All verification and identification requirements are conducted across the handset and stored within the devices' memory, minimising time-consuming checking processes. Customers will be able to manage their finances easily via handsets by the touch of a button.

Gerry O'Connor commented: "Aspect aims to provide the banking and insurance industry with the maximum number of access points - whether it be the internet, digital television or WAP. Yet again, we are leading the way."
