Pressbox (Press Release) - (February 19, 2001 – Los Angeles, CA) After two years in the making, the world’s largest business-to-business interactive web site dedicated to the film and television industries is now online. With its launch, FilmStew.com becomes one of the premiere B2B portals offering resources from around the world needed to produce movies, television shows, or any visual media.

“Technology has been used to create astonishing visual effects—but it hasn’t yet been used to streamline basic film and television industry day-to-day operations—until now,” says FilmStew.com’s President and co-founder, J. Sperling Reich, formerly with Nicolas Cage’s Saturn Films and Creative Artists Agency.

FilmStew.com is designed like an immense interactive rolodex of products, services and applications. Industry professionals at all levels can use the site to track projects, properties, people and productions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week—and at the same time stay current with entertainment news, feature and celebrity interviews, and box office reports.

FilmStew.com’s unique interactive resources include an “Availabilities” section, which allows an agent or manager to manage his or her client’s availability within a searchable directory. Talent or crew members can also post their availability, along with their bio, resume and contact information. Other innovative and searchable sections include New Talent—where industry professionals can discover promising new professionals in all areas of the industry, and Story Department—which provides an impressive array of services to screenwriters and production companies, including protected script coverage and a robust directory of screenplay competitions.

“FilmStew doesn’t want to change the way business is done in the film and television industry, nor the protocol,” says Chairman and co-founder John G. Culton. “We simply want to use available technology to make doing business in these industries more efficient, more timely and more profitable.”

Already under development are additional sections with industry specific functionality heretofore unseen on the Internet. One such tool will be geared toward exhibitors and distributors. With all of its unique features, Filmstew.com is slated to become the Film & TV Industry Homepage.

FilmStew.com executive management and board members include: American Pie producers Warren Zide and Craig Perry, former Miramax distribution executive Neil Blatt and the Editor-In-Chief of Detour magazine, Juan Morales.
