2B ACTING SUPPORT FOR INDEPENDENT FILM-MAKERS

Pressbox (Press Release) - Viewers can be the first to watch and vote on a range of independent short films using 2b Acting’s Selective Interactive Video to support Golden Nugget International Film Festival award winners.
Golden Nugget International Film Festival (GNIFF) continually seeks ways to reward their festival winners and this has led to a collaboration with 2b Acting, the Yorkshire-based digital media and theatre company that specialises in Selective Interactive Video (SIV) productions.
GNIFF is an international film festival currently screening in five countries with quarterly live screenings and an annual live screening and awards event.
Taraq Qureshi, GNIFF Founder and Artistic Director said, “We are pleased to be introducing this exciting initiative to support our award winners. Our work with 2b Acting may prove to be a game changer.”
The collaboration has created the GNIFF SIV show which is streamed on 2b Acting’s InView channel and extends the benefits of winning a GNIFF award by raising the profile of the filmmakers long after the festival screening and award ceremony is over. The SIV allows viewers to watch the filmmakers’
submissions and gain easy access to additional information for them to place a vote. Voting matters, as the feedback decides the filmmaker that will receive the InView Viewers Award at the end of the voting period.
This GNIFF initiative effectively creates an easy-access platform for the public to view Independent short films. Winners will benefit from the extra exposure and viewers can experience a world previously reserved for film festival goers.
“This collaboration is an excellent example of how new technologies, like SIV, can disrupt the status quo.”, says David Jones, founder of 2b Acting. “Having a video that encourages communication as part of the design is a fantastic way to capture an audience which will greatly benefit independent filmmakers. It’s also great that GNIFF is going beyond expectations to reward their winners.”
Recognising that many filmmakers missed out because of film festivals closing during the 2020, 2021 pandemic years the GNIFF SIV show begins with the Autumn 2019 winners, and moves forward from there. Filmmakers should therefore be ready for a resurgent of interest in their submissions to take advantage of this initiative.
GNIFF has taken a bold step by being first to utilise SIV in this way and as the popularity of the show grows this may become a major film festival requirement.
