Added: (Mon Sep 10 2001)

Pressbox (Press Release) - A world-leading breakthrough in the speed and ease of use of optical fibre splicing technology is to be unveiled by Furukawa Electric Europe Limited at next month's ECOC show in Amsterdam.

Furukawa, which was one of the first companies to manufacture optical fibre cable, is using the prestigious ECOC (European Conference on Optical Communication) event to introduce its new S176 Series Core-Aligning Fusion Splicers, which takes just 11 seconds to complete the splice process, including the loss estimation.

Visitors to the Furukawa stand (no. 1006) will be able to see the product in action throughout the show. "Furukawa has been at the leading edge of Fibre Optic Technology since it was first identified as the key for the networks of the 21st century", said David Jones, European Sales Manager.

"Next months presence in Amsterdam is further evidence of our commitment for the future"
