Added: (Fri Apr 13 2001)

Pressbox (Press Release) - SkillSoft International – the management and business skills e-learning specialist – is offering free e-learning courses via its new UK web site.

The courses have been specially selected from SkillSoft’s Communications, Sales and Management, Customer Service and Leadership curricula and are available to anyone visiting the site.

Each course – which takes between two and three hours to complete - can be done in a single block or taken in stages at the user’s convenience. Pre and post assessment is also incorporated so that people can judge their level of mastery and understanding at any point during the training. Each course features a number of on-line job aids and performance support tools to enable the learner to get the most out of the experience.

Says Kay Baldwin-Evans, Head of Marketing at SkillSoft International:
“Our UK web site goes live this week and we’re keen for it to offer real value for visitors and become a useful source of generic e-learning information as well as containing SkillSoft specific data. With more than 600 different e-learning courses across 20 curricula, we’ll be able to update the free e-learning selection regularly. We will also be running monthly initiatives and contests so that organisations can win free courses and offering free downloadable white papers on a variety of topics. In the not too distant future, we’re hoping to add web casts and chat events hosted by independent management and business training experts – offering online advice to visitors on a range of topics.”

Kevin Young, Managing Director of SkillSoft International added:
“A web site should be under constant development and improvement so that it continues to address the needs of its visitors. We’re looking forward to receiving feedback from people as to what they think of it so far, how they would like to see it evolving in the future and which training experts they would like to receive advice from during web casts and chat events.”

This course explains how most misunderstandings, conflicts, and mistakes are caused by communication problems. It teaches the learner how people differ in communication styles and ways they can adapt their communication to get the results they want. The learner discovers how to create change by shifting conversations out of the past and into the present. Additionally, it explains about the influence of gender on communication styles and strategies to bridge the gap.

Customer Service Curricula - The Voice of the Customer
The focus in this course is on recognising and ultimately anticipating customer expectations. There is any number of ways to hear "The Voice of the Customer", but you have to know how to listen. In this course, the learner is able to learn about the dynamics of client expectations, and the inconsistent, ever-changing nature of today's customer. The learner will be able to explore the five key expectations of customers and be able to assess their workplace in terms of meeting client needs. Additionally, by completing this course, you'll be able to master methods of compiling customer data and input. The final step in "hearing" your customer is creating compatibility. The learner will be able to explore how to adjust their services to each of their clients, and gain customers for life.

Leadership Curricula - Challenges of the 21st Century
The 21st century brings its own unique set of challenges that leadership must accommodate. In this course, the learner will learn how evolving work environments affect leadership. They will explore the implications of 21st century trends such as virtual staff members and portable assets, and learn how they can meet the leadership challenges they present. Additionally, they will learn about the values of intellectual assets and how they can maximise their infrastructure assets. The course concludes with leadership strategies for e-Business.

Sales Curricula - Finding the Pain you can Cure
Traditional sales training focuses on presenting features and benefits, identifying buying signals, and closing the sale. But in this course, the focus is on solution selling; finding a need the customer has, illustrating the implications of not solving the problem, and presenting a legitimate solution in the form of the a product or service. This approach goes beyond making a sale; it creates and builds a long-term relationship with the customer.

Management Curricula - Development Tools for Tomorrow’s Managers
Trained managers are more than systems and process supervisors. They lead and develop others. This course is aimed at those who have to do this. The courses will set out what the learner should expect from the managers who work for them and vice versa. It also allows the learner to identify methods to make their staff, change-ready managers who are global thinkers. The learner is given step by step cutting-edge methods for creating and executing a performance agreement that sets the standard for development. The learner will also be able to explore the techniques for partnering with senior people in their organisation. After completing this course, the learner will know how to build managers that give their organisation the competitive edge to be a market leader.
