In a world where young minds are facing increasing challenges with self-esteem and confidence, acclaimed author Lisa Treasure is making a difference with a beautiful children's book that seeks to inspire and uplift. Today, Lisa is thrilled to share her Kickstarter campaign for the heartfelt and empowering book, "The Drabidull."
Over the past decade, there have been growing concerns about the rise in mental health issues among young children. In fact, the Good Childhood Report 2022 shows that children’s happiness continues to decline. Now, five children in a classroom of thirty are likely to have a mental health problem.
One of the main reasons for this is that young children today face greater stress and pressure due to such things as academic expectations, social pressures, and a fast-paced digital environment. These stressors can impact their emotional well-being.
In addition, the prevalence of social media has also introduced new challenges for young children, including cyberbullying, comparison culture, and excessive screen time, which can affect their mental health.
Lisa has seen this first hand, initially in her role as a primary school teacher, and more recently as a qualified hypnotherapist and EFT practitioner. “My youngest clients used to be teenagers, but recently, I have been seeing younger and younger children, as young as seven and eight,” Lisa explained.
With a vision to make a positive impact on young lives, "The Drabidull" is a captivating story that hopes to instill feelings of self-esteem and self-worth at an early age to prevent children from struggling in the future.
The book follows the enchanting journey of The Drabidull who doesn’t feel good enough in his own skin. He goes to drastic lengths to make himself special and eventually discovers his inner strength and uniqueness through a series of magical adventures.
This empowering children's book is not just a work of fiction; it's a powerful tool designed to nurture self-belief, resilience, and a sense of worthiness among young readers. "The Drabidull" is not about perfection; it's about embracing one's flaws and recognising that you are truly special just as you are. Through the book's beautifully illustrated pages and engaging narrative, Lisa aims to instill the message that self-love and self-acceptance are key ingredients for a fulfilled and happy life.
Now, Lisa is calling upon the community to join her in her mission to make a difference. The Kickstarter campaign aims to raise funds for the book's distribution, and outreach efforts to reach children in schools, libraries, and youth organisations.
