Added: (Thu May 17 2001)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Archbishop Michael Ramsey Technology College, joint photo contest winners of the Schools Science Race 2001, had a day out in London when they went to collect their prize at the Royal Institution of Great Britain followed by a visit to the Science Museum.

Dr. Peter Radley, the UK Chairman of Alcatel, a leading telecommunications supplier supporting the Science Race for the second year, is seen here with students receiving a Web Touch Phone for their school. They were joined by BBC Tomorrow’s World presenter, Lindsey Fallow, who inspired the young audience with her experiences of being an engineer.

Commented Dr. Radley, “It is very exciting to be amongst so many students who potentially could be the scientists of our future. As a leading employer of engineers, we depend on the youth of today to innovate and develop tomorrow’s technologies.”

The Science Race is an on-line quiz for 11-16 year old students and is organised by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council to promote science as interactive, creative and fun.
