Friends Network – Social Activities Afterdivorce


The website www.ondivorce.co.uk launches a new Friends Network, designed specifically to facilitate social activities for divorced people.



“Our Friends Network enables people with similar experiences to first find each other and then make it easier to meet and share social activities” said ondivorce founder, Paul Maitland. “The emphasis is on friendships and on keeping things simple and uncommercialised, part of which I believe is what makes ondivorce so popular”.



Some examples of the social activities that have taken place include City breaks in Birmingham and Dublin, numerous dinners around the country and barbeques in members homes.



He stated “these get togethers are unlike those of introductions or dating services, because Friends Network creates a more comfortable and less pressurised atmosphere as its members share a common goal of making friends rather than entering relationships. Nothing like this exists in the UK at present, and it is focussed on those who are single because of divorce”. Maitland started the site after his own divorce and it is now a well known virtual community where everyone helps each other survive the trauma of divorce. He continued “now the aim is to bring this to the attention of all other divorcees, although importantly “divorce” will be a word not used very often as the members of Friends Network will clearly want to put that aspect of their lives firmly behind them”.



The feedback so far has indicated a very real need for this and it would be nice to think that one day difficulty in breaking the ice to have a social life would be a thing of the past for people eager to rebuild their lives and who want to move forward in the company of understanding friends. Importantly, membership of Friends Network is free of charge and soon its members will be benefiting from a selection of social activities, short breaks and other services to be developed to meet the interests of its members.
