Siemens Homeworking Solution Tops 1,000 Sales In Just Nine Months

Added : ( Mon Apr 08 2002 )

Siemens Communications’ ground breaking software release for its market leading Realitis DX communications server – part of HiPath, Siemen’s enterprise convergence architecture – has taken what is currently a difficult market by storm with over 1,000 sales since its July launch.

The software, called 7.1 New World, gives users the ability to work from home while seamlessly connected to their company’s private network. It is playing a major role in changing the way people work and demand continues to be high.

“We knew we had something special when we announced the new software and the market has responded magnificently,” said Colin Aldworth, head of product management for Realitis DX at Siemens Communications.

“Users can operate either their home telephones or mobiles as true extensions of their network and also with all the features of business working, such as call transfer and audio conferencing. It is truly playing a major part in re-shaping the way people and organisations work”.

Another feature supported by Siemens’ New World is an effective solution to Anonymous Call rejection – the right of domestic subscribers to automatically reject incoming calls if a caller ID is not present. This will become increasingly important to business as awareness of the facility becomes more widespread, particularly those with Call Centre working.
Other benefits made possible with the new software included:

· The ability to hot desk around the office by logging onto telephones within the system, allowing people to make and receive calls as if from their own desk – enabling huge savings in moves and changes, in office space costs, or both.
· Working more efficiently as "virtual teams" across an organisation using the network-wide Keysystem feature.
When used in conjunction with Siemens' Realitis Xpress 2 product, organisations can achieve a mobile Voice over IP (VoIP) solution, without the need to invest in a "soft PABX". Realitis Xpress is a best in class hybrid IP offering, supporting all the popular PBX features in both the IP domain and interworking with the circuit switch world. Both soft clients and IP phones are supported along with the recently introduced Quality of Service feature to the latest industry standards.
