Given the events of September 11, 2001, most people feel powerless to stop terrorism themselves while they support the efforts of governments to find terrorists and root them out. But there is more than one type of terrorist. You can help stop terrorism on the Internet now.
It is clear that a small number of hackers around the world are terrorists, not bored teenagers or independent thinkers. Now is the time for computer users to think about information warfare. Don’t let an Internet terrorist take over your computer and use it for a denial of service (DoS) attack (for example). If you have not installed Internet security software on your computer, do it now. Cost is not an acceptable excuse, there is excellent freeware available. Protecting your computer with security software and hardware is a small thing that you can do to help stop Internet terrorism.
If your Internet service provider (ISP) does not have a resource page on Internet security, send them an email now demanding that they add one as soon as possible. Too many ISP’s have been pretending that there is no Internet security issue or that it is not their problem. There is and it is time for them to take action.
