WHICH IS THE FAIREST HAGGIS OF THEM ALL?

To kick of their annual Burns Night, held on Sunday 23 January 2005, The
Anderson restaurant with rooms, in the Black Isle village of Fortrose in the Scottish Highlands,
treated their guests to not one haggis, but 7 of them.

In their 2nd-annual Haggis Taste-Off, legendary mystery meats from 7 Scottish butchers were
numbered and tasted blind by the crowd at The Anderson's stylish restaurant. Each
guest was given a scorecard, on which there were spaces to rate each
haggis on a scale from 1 - 5.

And when the last oat cake had been downed, co-owner, Jim Anderson, single-malt in hand,
revealed the results. It was W. Brown butchers from Lossimouth who
ran away with the Gold, with a total of 136 points. Silver was awarded to
George Mior butchers of Rosemarkie, while Bronze for the second year in a
row went to Cockburn's butchers of Dingwall. It was a sweep for The Highlands.

The evening continued with random readings of Burns' poetry, a buffet of
British comfort food from the endless repertoire of chef, Anne Anderson, and a moving address and musical
entertainment by the incomparable Ramsay McGhee.

2004 Taste-Off winner, Scott the Butcher of Huntly, declined to enter this
year's competition on the grounds that they were quitting competitive
haggismaking while they were on top.

The Anderson Features a menu of Global Cuisine that changes every
day, as well as 162 single-malt whiskies and Scotland's largest
collection of gourmet Belgian beer. They may be found on the Web at
www.theanderson.co.uk.
