Home Computer Magazine: www.homecomputermagazine.com

Cranberry Publishing gives Home Computer Magazine away for free for all readers.

Cranberry Publishing Ltd, a specialist magazine publisher set up by experienced consumer magazine publisher, David Taylor, has launched the first free, interactive computer magazine. Home Computer Magazine is written by professionals, designed to the exacting standards of print magazines, but has all the additional features offered by electronic delivery.

Published in PDF (Adobe Acrobat) format, the magazine requires no additional reader software and features interactive content that is beyond anything seen before in an emagazine.

Play with your magazines

“Previous emagazines have barely scratched the surface of the power of Adobe’s PDF format before now, but we decided to stretch it to the limit to show what an emagazine can really be like, “ says publisher David Taylor. “With 5 million broadband users in the UK we’re ready for a proper emagazine, but readers want something that offers more than a simple printed magazine can do, or else what is the point?”

In Home Computer Magazine reviews come to life with a picture that allows you to zoom in on key parts of the hardware. Software can be played with from within the page itself and tutorials have never been easier to follow with interactive walkthroughs.

As well as interactivity, Home Computer Magazine has several more unique attributes. There is a free Issue Manager software utility also available for download, which allows reader to “subscribe” for free. After installation the reader will be told when a new issue is published so that it can be downloaded, and the software manages all the storage of issues for them.

Free for all

“We recognise that people expect information to be free on the internet. So we decided it would be fun to create a magazine to give away.” says David.

Cranberry Publishing was set up in early 2004 by David Taylor. David was previously Group Publisher for Future Publishing where he worked for ten years, launching such magazines as Microsoft Windows XP: The Official Magazine and the PPA award winning Digital Camera magazine.
