Vernon Neilly Featured In Music Connection Magazine's "Close Up"

LA, CA -- July 24, 2001 -- Contemporary Urban artist Vernon Neilly took time out from the frenetic promotion of his debut CD "Kaleidescope" to talk with Jonathan Widran from Music Connection Magazine about Boosweet Records. Vernon launched the label following a seven years stint as President of Chereese Records and now has 21 artists, including Atlantic Starr, blues singer Yolanda Johnson and vocalist Elaine Stepter signed to its roster.

"Because I had many contacts with both indie retailers and big chains like Tower and Sam Goody, it made sense to expand into distributing other artists," explained Vernon in the feature. "We also have an aggressive artist promotion wing, which even submits their recordings to music supervisors for film and TV in addition to radio, web radio and cable radio subscription services."

Beyond being an accomplished music label executive, Kaleidescope has been burning the Net since its release earlier this year. Four #1 and seven Top 5 songs on mp3.com charts, Vernon has been receiving growing acceptance across a growing spectrum of music genres. And the media has taken notice as illustrated by the CD's latest rave review in Manhunt.

"This CD is wonderful easy listening; not too light, while being very musically engaging. Soft jazz, yet with enough of an edge to rock you slowly from the first track to the last. An acoustical pleasure that would be a blessing to any Jazz radio station."

"Don't miss out on this CD – words cannot be found to totally describe what you'll find here. There is a mix of flavors; jazz, blues, Island sounds, and a little rap. It is an ambitious, creative, diverse, well produced package of musical entertainment."
