WEBSITE ON SRI LANKAN A HUGE HIT WITH EUROPEAN TOURISTS

A website on a Sri Lankan from the village of Ambaraluwa is provoking huge interest among European tourists and has registered hundreds of hits from around the world.

The story of the life and times of W.Sumith Wickramasinghe went online three weeks ago - it is fast becoming one of the most popular Sri Lankan websites. Wickramasinghe was born in Ambaraluwa and attended Ananda College in Colombo. He went on to become a leading motor assessor with the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation.

The tribute site to W.Sumith Wickramasinghe contains fascinating insights into the life of the island of Sri Lanka. The website notes that the 'story of Sumith Wickramasinghe is a story of Sri Lanka.'

It has proved a real hit in Europe.Britain is number one where the island's tourism market is concerned. There has been a real increase in the numbers of British tourists visiting Sri Lanka over the last few years.
