MTV Base Celebrate 5th Birthday with UK & Ireland Club Tour

MTV Base was born in 1999 spawning a generation of R&B music lovers and heralding the start of a flourishing urban music scene. Five years on and the urban music channel has maintained its position at the forefront of music culture as well as helping to revolutionize the urban music scene in the UK and Ireland. June 2004 sees MTV Base celebrate its 5th Birthday by embarking on a UK club tour championing new and established urban talent in parties the length & breadth of the country.

The Lick’s legacy is untouchable. It has been a driving force in putting urban music atop of the commercial charts today. The Lick made the likes of Craig David, Destiny’s Child, Eminem, Jay Z and Usher household names whilst continually securing A-list interviews with veteran urban stars like Whitney Houston, R Kelly and Mary J Blige to name but a few. Trevor Nelson, a regular host of MTV Lick parties has previously had over 50 sold-out events, often with impromptu live performances from the likes of P Diddy and Mary J Blige.

The MTV Base 5th birthday will be celebrated with a whirlwind trip around the UK and Ireland with a club tour starting in London. Scotland is fortunate enough to hold two of the events as opposed to the usual quick trip north of the border. The events are held in City® Edinburgh on Friday 11th June and City® Perth on Saturday 12th June.

The previous MTV base party at City® Edinburgh saw a string of A-list celebrities such as Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Vin Diesel and Travis, not to mention the crowd pleasing performances from The Black Eyed Peas and Missy Elliot.

Hanif, Paul N’Jie, Steve ‘tha 4orce’ Ellington and exclusive PA’s are all lined up for both Scottish events and although we cannot reveal the names of celebrity attendees, this will be a double whammy of star studded events set to re-live the hype created in Edinburgh during the MTV Base Europe Awards.

If you are lucky enough to purchase a ticket for any of the expected sell-out events, be prepared to find the perfect street wear and rake out your finest bling to make an impact for the MTV cameras. The events will be filmed and later broadcast on MTV Base alongside Lick special interviews with Justin Timberlake, LL Cool J as well as ‘Trevor meets…’ with Beyonce, Mary J Blige, Damon Dash and Usher.
