Launch of Uniformed Dating Site

A unique website, www.uniformdating.com has been launched, allowing the uniformed services to date each other and for the public to make a love match with someone in uniform.
Designed originally for members of the uniformed services and armed forces, it is now available to the public.

Background

The site is designed to bring together those who work in the armed forces, police, NHS, ambulance and fire service for friendship or relationships. Police, for instance, have always had somewhat of an affinity with nursing staff as have the Armed Forces and the Fire Service; each attending the others social functions and in many cases ending up in relationships.

This affinity is normally borne out of a mutual respect and understanding of each others working conditions and practices. With Uniformdating.com the users of the site know that the people they are contacting will understand some of the pressures they go through in their working day. They can even identify the different professions with icons denoting their employment.

Many uniformed and armed services personnel live in areas they were not brought up in, making forming relationships harder. This is compounded by the fact that with many uniformed services working unsocial hours, such as Friday and Saturday nights, they aren’t always able meet new partners in conventional ways such as in pubs and clubs.

With members of the armed forces spending greater amounts of time overseas, this will enable them to meet and converse with potential love matches back in chosen areas of the UK, while they are on deployment in places such as Iraq and Afghanistan. Certain members of the Armed Forces in Iraq have been informed of Uniformdating.com through military press officers.

Public Access

NSI ran an immensely popular Pen Pals system for the UK military during the height of the Gulf War, with the public showing great support for the troops. It was obvious from the details posted on the pen pals area that people were looking for a lot more than a pen pal.

These Pen Pals and others have been questioned and there is a massive interest from the public in having access to a site where they can find dates from the uniformed services. Individuals with no links to the uniformed services are denoted with a ‘civilian’ icon.

The System

The service was launched by NSI Ltd, who run open-source information systems for the UK police & military. The company is made up of ex police & military personnel.

Users can search for partners by sex, geography, hobbies and background etc. They can look at each other’s photos and profiles, and even send each other ‘Quick Hello’s’. They can then converse through the secure Uniformdating.com system with a view to forming a love match.

Further Information

Further information such photographs, graphics and screen dumps are available. Interviews with individuals from a uniformed service / armed forces background can also be arranged.
