Former Chartered Surveyor and Tax Accountant Ash Hirani has turned his back on 10 years of working in the City in favour of a new and unique business opportunity – automated, hot, fresh food which is available around the clock.

Hertfordshire-based Ash, who previously worked for a ‘Big 4’ accountancy firm, has decided to pursue his long-held ambition of running his own business and recently signed up as a franchisee for Hot Bite.

‘It was about a year ago that I reached the decision to go it alone’ says Ash. ‘Having spent 10 years advising large national corporate clients on how to run their businesses, I wanted to put my skills to the test. The important difference being that it would be for no-one else but me’!

Hot Bite, who began franchising in early 2002, provide innovative, first-to-market vending machines that currently include toasted sandwich, panini, pizza and tortilla wrap options. Ideal for hospitals, places of learning, call centres, offices, factories and the like, the machines do not use microwave ovens but two hot plates with the pizza machine using a fan-assisted oven.

Ash, through Sterling Munch, the corporate vehicle he has launched for this venture, intends to capitalise on the increasing consumer trend towards 24/7 food to-go by offering consumers tasty, convenient, fresh hot food options. ‘I view this business, not so much as vending machine services, but rather, a fresh food services business that just so happens to adopt an automated format – a result of which is that we can provide clients and consumers with a huge number of added benefits’ says Ash.
